IW Performance Cricket

IW Performance Cricket Pillar

The Performance Pillar is responsible for the running of the IW County Sides,  playing and training programmes and the development of individual players within the programme.

The pillar will be responsible for the following areas.

  • Summer Playing Programme
  • Winter and Summer Training
  • Junior District Cricket
  • Parent & Player Communication
  • Development of Excellence (DofE) selection and training
  • Emerging Players Programme (EPP) selection and training

The key individuals for the performance pillar are:

Admin Officer: Ash Goldsmith email: admin@isleofwightcricket.co.uk

Cricket Board Director: Email: performance@iwcb.org.uk.

The performance pillar will be recording the following data to allow the Cricket Board to assess the health of Island Cricket.

  • Number of players attending training weekly
  • Game Statistics
  • Individual Player Statistics.
  • Schools of the players attending training.

IWCB & Hampshire Link

As part of the County Partnership Agreement (CPA) The Isle of Wight Cricket Board must have in place a contractual link to Hampshire CCC.

This also qualifies us for funding from the ECB for the Emerging Player Programme (EPP). It is expected that satellite EPPs will be attended by a small number of players with the potential to progress to first-class county academy programmes.

This results in some of our better players being invited to play for Hampshire.

Fringe players from Hampshire will or can be given opportunities to play county cricket for the Isle of Wight. All National counties do this.

Dorset also link into Hampshire and regularly field Hampshire fringe players as Hampshire recruit the best players from Dorset.

This system has been in place since 2017 and was agreed contractually with ECB in November 2019 by the IWCB .

EPP Programme

The Emerging Players Programme (EPP) is an ECB funded programme that is for the players with the potential to go on to make professional cricketer further down the road.

The small group of players are selected by the Island's team of Coaches.
